Billabong Pro Junior en Chile – LOS JUNIOR SE QUEDAN EN CHILE
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 February, 2008 : – – ALAS y ASP se unen por tercer año consecutivo para dar mejores oportunidades a los latinos. Éste fin de semana Chile será el escenario de los Billabong Pro Junior 2008, fecha clasificatoria al Campeonato Mundial Junior ASP de Australia. Estas etapas siguen siendo válidas para el ranking Latinoamericano ALAS.
Este año se introduce una nueva parada en el Junior Pro. Pichilemu, Chile recibirá a los mejores juniors de Latinoamérica y Brasil quienes estarán compitiendo por clasificar entre las 5 vacantes masculinas y dos femeninas para representar a nuestra región en el Mundial Pro Junior a realizarse en Enero 2009 en Australia.
El escenario será Diamante en la playa de Punta Lobos, en la región de Pichilemu 200 kms. al sur oeste de Santiago, Chile.
El Billabong Pro Junior es válido para el ranking Latinoamericano lo que permitirá que los surfistas que actualmente compiten por el título de Campeón Latino Junior Pro 2008 les sea conveniente participar en la clasificación al mundial. Varios de los juniors vienen de participar de la cuarta parada del ALAS Latin Tour en Reñaca, también en Chile.
El campeón de Junior Pro de la última etapa ALAS en Chile, Leonardo Gianotti, ya va camino a Pichilemu y se siente confiado para ésta próxima parada: “Vengo con dos triunfos en el ALAS así que vamos a ver qué pasa éste fin de semana”, declaró tras recibir el cheque ganador en Reñaca.
Ésta parada en Pichilemu será un evento 5 estrellas ALAS Junior Pro que repartirá USD$ 7,5000 dólares en premios además de 5,000 puntos para el ranking latino. Esta primera etapa de Chile marcará las primeras posibilidades para la clasificación a Australia.
Después de esta primera fecha, los deportistas viajarán a Panamá la última semana de marzo para la quinta parada del ALAS Latin Tour. Las próximas dos paradas del Billabong Pro Junior están planeadas para Brasil en Torres (RS) y Praia de Camburi en São Sebastião (SP).
“Absolutamente la mejor recompensa, además de la búsqueda de la conquista del título mundial de la categoría, es el comodín (call) que ofrece la ASP, y es que el vice y el campeón del Mundial Junior Pro podrá competir en los WQS, que es fundamental para aumentar sus posibilidades de una calificación para el WCT”, destaca Roberto Perdigao, director de ASP América del Sur, de la oficina regional para América del Sur ASP”.
El campeón del Billabong Pro Junior Punta Rocas Perú 2007, el brasilero Wiggolly Dantas, tratará de volver a imponerse. Los también brasileños Charlie Brown, Yan Guimarães, Robson Santos, Giancarlo Zampiere, el brasilero mejor rankeado en el WQS Adriano de Souza y el actual campeón Mundial Pro Junior Pablo Paulino han confirmado su presencia para éste fin de semana.
Del resto de sud América han confirmado: Manuel Selman (CHI), Guillermo Satt (CHI), Maximiliano Cross (CHI), Dylan Southworth (MEX), Cristobal de Col (PER), Carlo MArio Zapata (PER)
El ALAS Y ASP Billabong Pro Junior Series 2008 está siendo realizado por Billabong, presentado por Líneas Aéreas Inteligentes Gol y bajo el patrocinio da Von Zipper, Kustom e Nixon. La competencia es homologada por la Asociación de Surfistas Profesionales, a través de su oficina regional de ASP Sud América y ALAS La Asociación Latinoamericana de Surfistas Profesionales.
El campeonato será transmitido en vivo.

ALAS and the ASP join up for Billabong Pro Junior Chile
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 February, 2008 : – – ALAS and ASP have joined forces for the third consecutive year to provide better opportunities for Latins. This weekend Chile will be the scene of the Billabong Pro Junior 2008, the first qualifying date for the ASP World Junior Championships in Australia. These steps remain valid for the ranking Latin American ALAS.
This year a new stop have been introduced in the Junior Pro wolrd wide qualifying. Pichilemu, Chile will receive the best juniors in Latin America and Brazil who will be competing for classifying between 5 male and two female vacancies to represent our region in the World Pro Junior to be held in January in Australia.
The stage will be Diamante at Punta Lobos beach, in the region of Pichilemu, south west of Santiago, Chile. The Billabong Pro Junior is valid for the Latin American ALAS ranking. That will allow surfers currently competing for the Latin Junior Pro title 2008 to be desirable to participate in the global qualifying.
Several of the juniors come directly from the fourth ALAS stop at Reñaca, also in Chile. The Pro Junior champion of the last ALAS stage in Chile, Leonardo Gianotti, is in his way to Pichilemu and felt confident for this next stop: “I come with two wins in the ALAS so let’s see what happens this weekend”, he said after receiving the winner check in Reñaca.
This Pichilemu stop will be an 5 stars ALAS Junior Pro that will spread $ 7.5000 dollars in prizes plus points for the 5000 ranking. This first stage of Chile will mark the first chance for the classification to Australia. After this first time, athletes will travel to Panama the last week of March for the fifth stop of the ALAS Latin Tour. The next two stops of the Billabong Pro Junior are planned for Brazil in Torres (RS) and Praia de Camburi in São Sebastião (SP).

The Billabong Pro Junior champion Punta Rocas Perú 2007, the Brazilian Wiggolly Dantas, will seek to re-imposed. The ALAS and ASP Billabong Pro Junior Series 2008 is being conducted by Billabong, presented by Intelligent Airline Gol and under the sponsorship of Von Zipper, Kustom and Nixon. Competition is accredited by the Association of Surfing Professionals, through its regional office in South America and ALAS The Latin American Surfing Professionals Association.
